http://www.becamedia.net/ksfsradio/ (psst down load our new app from your app store now!!)

How's it goin' everyone? I know we didn't have a show this past Tuesday, hope you didn't miss us too much 🥺 But sadly, to bring you guys updates and news, The B.O.B.A Show (as well as the other shows on KSFS Radio) are postponed until further notice.

NOTE: We are not medical professionals nor are we authorities on COVID-19. Links will be provided below to official sites with all information concerning the virus.

As you may have heard, San Francisco State University (SFSU) and many other schools (e.g UCs, CSUs, CCs, K-12s) are beginning to make the call and close off all face-to-face in class sessions due to precautions of the CoronaVirus (COVID-19) within the Bay Area and throughout California. Many of us are devastated for having to be in this situation, but our staffs and educators are continuously putting in their best efforts to help us continue our education during this world wide pandemic. As we hold these sessions online, don't forget to thank your instructors, as well as faculty members, for their hard work.

SFSU will be closed until Sunday, April 5th, unless otherwise stated. Classes will resume online for the time being at their normal session time. Link to SFSU COVID-19 updates and concerns: https://news.sfsu.edu/covid-19

During this world wide pandemic, you may have noticed that there has been a rise in xenophobia. You may have even heard us talk about a few of those situations on our shows too and it's beginning to get out of hand. Many of us may not realize it happening around us, unlike others, where it could damage us both physically and mentally. If you or anyone that you know has experienced any type of this hate crime, don't be afraid to talk to someone about it. Talk to your professors, peers, anyone that you are comfortable around talking to about this matter, do not be afraid. They're here to help you.

We heard a few things going around about how some students are afraid to enter grounds of public areas due to this factor, and we feel the pain for them. The fear of leaving your safe house to the outside world where possibilities of nightmares becoming reality come true. An incident happened on campus (no information will be disclosed) and it hurts to say that this happened in our community. Please be mindful to those around you as this situation doesn't revolve around one race, ethnicity, person, body, whatever you may see it as. It concerns every single one of us and we need to work together in order to get through it.

Another thing that has been on an uprising is the panic people are experiencing during this time. Shortages in markets are increasing drastically, and on some measures, completely out of hand. In this case, toilet paper; do people really need to stock up with 6 packs? Do you really need 20 bottles of hand sanitizer for yourself? Three pallets of disinfectant wipes? Doesn't this seem a little out of pocket?

As a person that works in retail, it's crazy. I would say that the past few weeks since the outbreak reached us has got to be the worst few weeks at work I have ever experienced since I've been there. The demand is higher than the supply that it should be right now. Most common question asked?

"Do you have anymore _____________?"

Fill that blank in with any sanitizing/ paper/ food product that a store would sell. The answer? Most of the time is that we're all out. On average, customers are understanding, but once in a while we'll get that one person that will go off and blow up in your face about it. What can we do? Sorry for the inconvenience? Sad to say that those number of guests are increasing as well. We started limiting how many of those items they can purchase in order to make it fair for everyone. It also reduces certain buyers to bulk buy and resell.

This situation is dangerous, yes, and we can't keep brushing it off as if it isn't going to affect us, because it is. It doesn't mean that we can go into panic mode and make it so it's even being for themselves. Stocking up doesn't mean purchasing unnecessary amounts of essentials all for yourself, but grabbing enough that will support you for the time being. You won't be quarantined, forever. We're in this together, you're not alone.

On that note, we here on The B.O.B.A Show, as well as KSFS, we would like advise everyone to use best hygiene and remember best practices. Please consider the following:

Hygiene:

  • Wash your hands for 20 - 30 seconds a day with warm water

  • Sanitize if you have the chance or have access to product

  • Properly dispose of any waste you have used for personal care (e.g used tissues, masks, ect.)

  • Wear a mask if needed. It will help not only to defend, but to also not spread germs around to others.

  • Be mindful of surfaces you touch and to those around you

Best Practices:

  • Cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze. Do not use your hands or put it out into the open. Try using your elbow or a napkin/tissue if you can

  • If you are sick, stay home. If symptoms continue or worsen, contact your physician as soon as possible.

  • Educate yourself about the situation. Try your best to keep yourself updated about COVID-19 and make sure it comes from platforms that are officially certified to give out any information about the matter.

  • Be respectful to those around you. We are here to help and support each other in this kind of situation. Do not cause any hate towards one another by any means.

  • Talk to someone. If you or if you know anybody who needs to speak about a situation regarding this or anything at all, do not be afraid.

To wrap things up, we hope you guys stay well and healthy. Do your best to stay strong and support one another during this time. We're here for you all as well. Reach out to us as well on our social media, don't be afraid to hit us up. We'll continue to post updates on them with any of the latest news along with regular blog updates.
